How to interpret weather forecast ?

The first thing to do is to fully understand the general situation expected in your navigation area. Wind and swell are the two main elements to take into account. Their directions are represented by an arrow relative to north and their strength with a color code. The sky view makes it easy to determine their orientations relative to the spot, and the data table is useful for monitoring their evolution over time.

How to choose between all the forecast models ?

RideXP automatically selects the forecast model that has the highest accuracy (wind and wave) for your area. But this is not enough to draw conclusions. It is recommended to compare the forecasts of different models for the same time T. This makes it possible to evaluate the reliability of a forecast: If the forecasts are close from one model to another, we can estimate that the forecast is reliable . If this is not the case, we must certainly expect changes!

How reliable are the forecast models ?

Most forecast models calculated by meteorological centers have an accuracy of several kilometers. Unfortunately, they cannot take into account the particularities of each spot such as their topography and any site effects... Moreover when the situation is unstable, such as for example a sudden wind shift, or a rain phenomenon extreme, the forecast may not be reliable.
